Technology
Our approach to technology follows 4 core principles:
Technology is linked directly to the curriculum and learning objectives. The use of technology at Oak Tree Primary School bubbles up out of what is done in the classroom. It is teacher driven and arises out of a need to further a child’s understanding. By placing the teacher as the driver, the use of technology is ensured to be compelling and in context. Technology integrators at Oak Tree support this approach, scaffolding teachers thus allowing them to ubiquitously and intimately integrate technology into their work with pupils. Integrated technology adds breadth and depth to educational experiences. Technology is always integrated into the curriculum only when it can help to further understanding for the pupils. Technology integration is done so with purpose and with an eye on pedagogy. The technology should always support and be supported by good teaching. If at any time a teacher feels as if they would like to incorporate technology into a piece of curriculum they should always be asking themselves, “how will this technology help the learning of my pupils increase?” Technology is a tool. Technology is a tool in the school, just like any other tool. Pupils should know when to use it and what specific technologies are needed to serve particular purposes. That said, part of being savvy with technology is learning when it is not needed, as well. |
We believe that learning
environments that successfully integrate technology afford their pupils greater
opportunities to create and construct knowledge, and provide teachers with
multifaceted resources to aid in the differentiation enabling a fully inclusive education. Our educational
technologies allow pupils new means of demonstrating their understanding. Pupils
can express themselves as researchers, designers, filmmakers, photographers,
songwriters, and engineers.
To enable a fully inclusive classroom we use 'CLOUD' based technologies to offer anytime, anywhere access to files and applications for both teachers and pupils. Using 'AirWatch' and the 'i3LEARNHUB' suite enables us to share our technology simply, seamlessly and cost effectively by working together.
Offering pupils the ability to 'bring your own device' enables them to access the curriculum seamlessly both at school and at home. By using the link via the 'i3LEARNHUB' allows both teachers and pupils to create, present, store, and share content and handwritten notes on any device.
