Why Choose Oak Tree Primary School?
Collaborative
Learning
At Oak Tree Primary we encourage children to work collaboratively, as research shows that; •. We often learn best by building our knowledge, understanding and skills through working with other people; • because people are social animals, most of our goals relate to those of the group or community; • classrooms that operate as learning communities get better results; • being able to learn and work with other people is fundamental in the wider world. Virtual Learning Environment
Communication opens up an infinite number of channels in the format of forums, discussion threads, polls, surveys and instant feedback either as a group or individually. The parent centre allows individual pupil information to be shared with relevant contacts through a dedicated login for parents. Topics currently being covered in the school can be seen by parents along with homework details. Please see website 'video' for information. |
Assistive
Technology
At Oak Tree Primary we have tools, techniques and technology to help children with learning disabilities. This helps children to work around their difficulties in reading, writing, spelling, mathematics and organisation or memory. The use of assistive technology devices can help children with learning disabilities to reach their full potential, giving them greater freedom and independence along the way. Our assistive technology devices include: • computers with print-recognition software that "read" text aloud, • speech recognition systems that turn oral language into written text, • talking calculators that assist people with maths difficulties, and • software that predicts and edits words for people who are prone to spelling difficulties For more information please follow the link: 'Reading Rockets' |
